ASB Awareness Week: Abandoned Buildings – Know the Risks & Report Concerns

As part of ASB Awareness Week, we’re raising awareness about the dangers linked to abandoned and derelict buildings in our communities. 

🚧 Why are abandoned buildings a concern? 

Empty or unsecured buildings can quickly become hotspots for Anti-Social behaviour, including vandalism, trespassing, and deliberate fire-setting. 

They may look harmless, but they often contain serious hidden dangers, such as: 

These risks can cause serious harm to those entering the buildings and put additional pressure on emergency services. 

🚨 What should you do? 

✅ Report Anti-Social behaviour 

✅ Report abandoned or unsafe buildings 
You can report dangerous or derelict buildings directly to West Northamptonshire Council: 

West Northamptonshire Council can investigate and take action where buildings pose a risk to public safety.

The Northamptonshire Arson Task Force works with partners to tackle arson and reduce risks linked to vacant buildings.
